Description
About 40 minutes’ drive from my house are the wonderful Polylimnea Lakes and Waterfalls, near a village called Kazarma. You have to park your car at the top and walk down a steep, gravel path to get to the water. It is well worth it, though, as the lakes are an amazing turquoise green, in a steep gorge, surrounded by woodland. The waterfalls are stunning, and there is plenty of wildlife … frogs, fish, and many butterflies and damsel flies in the warmer months. You can walk along the river, using paths and bridges, but it is only for the brave, as much of the route involves scrambling over rocks and boulders.
This is a watercolour painting of one of the bridges, which I think was washed away in torrential rain last winter.
